Why EZScreens and Torch Paste are the Best for Screen Printing on Canvas Bags

Ever wondered how to make a custom canvas bag with a unique print? Well, it’s easier than you think with EZScreens® and Torch Paste! Today, I’m going to walk you through the process of transferring your own artwork onto a canvas bag using these amazing tools.

What You’ll Need to Screen Print with Torch Paste:

Drawing method (shown in video):

Digital method:

  • A design to print
  • Access to a printer
  • Transparency film for your printer type (Inkjet vs Laser/Toner)

Needed for either method:

Creating Your Stencil:

1. Sketch Your Design: Start by sketching your design on a piece of paper. Once you’re happy with it, trace over your sketch with an acrylic paint marker onto a transparency film. Or print your digital design on a transparency.
2. Expose Your Screen: (More detailed instructions here) Place the EZScreen® over the traced transparency film. Secure it in an exposure unit and expose it to light for about 15 minutes. If you don’t have an exposure light, direct sunlight works too!
3. Develop the Stencil: After exposure, soak the EZScreen® in water for 10, or more, minutes and gently rinse it out. This will reveal your silk screen stencil of the drawing.

Printing on the Canvas Bag:

1. Apply the Torch Paste: Place your stencil on the canvas bag and apply a scoop of torch paste on it.
2. Spread the Paste: Use a squeegee to evenly push the torch paste through the stencil onto the bag. Ensure you cover all parts of the design.
3. Cure the Design: Carefully remove the stencil and use a heat gun to cure (dry and set) the torch paste. If you prefer, you can let it dry naturally, though using a heat gun speeds up the process.
4. Finishing Touches: If you’re a bit impatient like me, you might slightly toast the edges of your design, which can add a cool, worn effect to your print!

And there you go! You've just created a one-of-a-kind printed canvas bag with your own design. This method not only adds a personal touch to your items but also allows you to explore creative designs without the need for complex equipment. What do you think about this technique? Ready to try it out on your next project?
